There's something about both competitions that are useful for me. I don't need the support to write, but the challenge, the kick in the pants, helps me. Even though I *think* I don't need it, Apparently i do though.

I rarely write too much. Everything needs to be squeezed out of me. And it's not so much the "inner editor" that gets in the way, but much like in person I don't talk a lot, when I write I don't write a lot. By nature I express things using very few words and with minimal background so especially with larger works I need to stretch.

Thanks for dropping by!

I love both NaNoWriMo and the 3DayNovel, mostly because I get the buy-in and support of my family and friends to concentrate on just writing for a short time.

The fence is a good analogy. Although I prefer to write too much and cut the fluff later, sometimes it does work better to get it all out, and fill in the necessary parts later. At least then you're done with something sooner-- one of my biggest problems is getting bogged down and saying way too much. Sometimes I set things aside long before they're finished because I'm writing too much.

I should learn something from the fence-building analogy, and from my own experience with the 3 Day Novel. Yes, it ended up half as long as a normal novel, but at least I finished a complete story in a very short time. It can either be a novella, or it can be filled out and become a full length novel.

I write erotic romance novels and in my opinion the genre requires a good plot laced with sex, lust, and romance.

The genre erotica, or adult fiction, is one that has a weak storyline, if any, and centres upon steamy lust.

Without the plot, but existing purely upon sexual encounters of the more outrageous kind, it is pornography.

Yeah, I think when people use the term "golf porn" it only takes a moment to figure out what they mean, which might suggest that "porn" has a fairly definite meaning for most people.

I think it's the people who want to write about sex but don't want to be categorized as "porn" who try to generate the biggest kerfuffle, and understandably so as they try to build that separation and clarification. But it's silly to get upset when the average person doesn't already understand the separation. At least, in the current environment. If the person were a publisher or something it would be different.

That's a tricky one, isn't it. Some people I talk to think that pornography simply refers to a 'masturbation aid' that is visual. So, photos, video..

But then what do overly explicit stories and audio books fall under? Is phone-sex a form of pornography? If someone takes a piece of 'Erotica' and finds it arousing enough to masturbate to... does it turn into Porn?

Hum... clearly I have no idea. But I say: just write! And I will read. :-)

Thanks, I just sent you the password.

The posts so far are of the erotic nature; the erotic parts are passworded. I do have an almost complete romance novel that is undergoing revisions yet. As for recommendations, I don't really have any? Other than Jane Austen. :) To me the genre is quite wide open and what works for one person may not even be worth considering for someone else.

Randomly stumbled upon "The Party" (and sent you a pw request :)) and read what I could of Cefalu. I like your style and look forward to reading me. Consider me a follower.

Despite my own writings, I've never indulged in a romance novel in my life. Probably because I'm young and would feel weird checking one out. Do you have any favorites or recommendations for new readers?

I saw a lot of yours and liked them too. I could have picked up the retweet, but I thought that I was careful not to catch the retweeter rather than the tweeter ...

And the Seven Mommies one was in my personal top five too.
